The Church of St. Albert has been a Safe Environment parish since 2004 in that all volunteers who work with children, teens, and vulnerable adults are Essential Three qualified.
Volunteer Safe Environment Requirements
Thank you for your interest to volunteer at the Church of St. Albert. Your interest to volunteer is a way of serving Christ in those around you.
All volunteers who work with children, teens, or vulnerable adults need to be "Essential Three" qualified with the Archdiocese-required "Essential Three" prior to volunteering. The Three Essentials to be completed are:
1) a criminal background check (cost covered by the parish),
2) a signed code of conduct, and
3) a three-hour, in-person VIRTUS training session (anywhere in the Archdiocese; St. Albert and/or our cluster parish, St. Michael in St. Michael does host VIRTUS training a few times a year).
Instructions for new volunteers to complete the Essential Three are below.- As a part of these requirements, there may be some short additional online training videos, documents, etc. that you may be asked to complete.
PAST AND CURRENT VOLUNTEERS:
Volunteers who have already completed the "Essential Three" are now required to renew these three items every three years. VIRTUS re-certification involves watching an online video (20-30 minutes) and taking a simple quiz. It does not require retaking the three-hour, in-person course.
- Go to www.virtusonline.org log in with your original User ID and password. If you do not remember your User ID or cannot retrieve your password, please call the Virtus customer service line toll-free 1-888-847-8870 or you may call or email St. Albert's Safe Environment Coordinator, Greg Gacioch at 763-497-2474 or [email protected].
- Once you are logged in, click the Toolbox tab.
- You should see three links highlighted in yellow: Background Check, Code of Conduct, and Keeping the Promise Alive (the VIRTUS re-certification video). Click each link and complete each item.
- You should also take this opportunity to update your account information. If you completed your VIRTUS training as a volunteer for another parish, please change your Primary Location to “St. Albert” in Albertville.

NEW VOLUNTEERS/PARENTS:
CLICK HERE for PDF explanation on how to sign up. To complete your background check paperwork, sign your code of conduct, and sign up for an upcoming VIRTUS training session:- Go to virtusonline.org and click "First Time Registrant," then click "Begin registration process."
- Select "St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN (Archdiocese)" from the dropdown menu and click "select."
- Create a User ID and Password.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the background check paperwork and Code of Conduct. Be sure to select “St. Albert” in Albertville as your Primary Location. If you volunteer at any other Catholic organization, feel free to add them as additional locations.
- Once these items are completed, you should be able to sign up for a VIRTUS class in the area.
We also ask that all New volunteers who will be working with children, teens, or vulnerable adults at the Church of St. Albert completes a Volunteer Application Form.
