One of the most important ministries in the Church is the sharing of Holy Communion to those individuals who are homebound or living in a varied spectrum from senior housing to nursing homes. The Church of St. Albert also serves the needs of people living at Engel Haus, which is part of the Guardian Angels group of facilities based in Elk River. Many of these individuals have been active, lifelong members of the parish community and miss participating in the liturgy.
Our Communion ministers assure those unable to be physically present in our parish that they are not forgotten and remain an important part of the community of St. Albert’s, we are always looking for volunteers. After an initial training session, new Communion ministers to the sick and homebound will accompany an experienced member on a visit. When comfortable with the process, new members will go to make these visits on their own. We meet approximately one time each quarter and review lists of our parishioners who are homebound.
If you are interested in joining this ministry or know of someone who is in need of Homebound Ministry, please contact our Homebound Ministry Coordinators, Joanne Wacker at 612-214-4795 or the Parish Office at 763-497-2474.
