CCC 1422 "Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion."4
---
Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church. The Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation) is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins. With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church. The Sacrament helps us stay close to the truth that we cannot live without God. "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).

We receive the gift of God’s mercy and forgiveness by confessing our sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Children in second grade and older are invited to celebrate this sacrament often. First Reconciliation is celebrated in 2nd Grade prior to First Communion. Parents and catechists prepare children for the reception of the Sacrament. Sacrament Preparation starts with Family participation in Total Lifelong Catechesis (TLC) and includes additional weekly Wednesday Classes and Learning Centers. Special arrangements are made for older students who have not received this Sacrament.
A First Communion and First Reconciliation Parent and Child Informational Meeting is Monday, September 16, 2024 at 6:00pm.
Registration for First Reconciliation is included on the TLC Registration Form.
